Our Project

Echoes of Padstow is inspired by the incredible audio-visual collection of Doc Rowe, who first visited Padstow in 1961. It has become Doc's life-long work dedicated to recording, collecting and preserving traditions such as Padstow's May Day.

In partnership with Barbara Santi of awen productions CIC, Doc's Padstow archive, spanning 60 years, has been lovingly digitised, catalogued and preserved with the Padstow community.

The Project
Our project has

  • Digitised and catalogued thousands of photographs and hundreds of hours of moving image on May Day and Padstow.
  • Animation workshops with Padstow young people
  • Create community podcasts
  • Workshops on traditions and customs with Padstow School 2025
  • Exhibition in Padstow 2024
  • Final exhibition at Kresen Kernow April 2025

Our project has been made possible with thanks from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Cornwall Heritage Trust, and Awards for All to digitise, interpret and share Doc’s special archive.
